Finder scans, done
Whoever finds your dog holds their phone to the tag. Your contact details appear instantly in the browser. No app download, no account needed.
No battery
NFC needs no power. The tag lasts a dog's lifetime. No replacing, no charging.
No app needed for finders
The finder simply scans with their phone and a web page opens. No hurdles when it really matters.
Update anytime
New phone number, holiday address, new vet? You update the details yourself, the tag stays the same.
You decide what's visible
Only the details you choose to share appear when the tag is scanned. You don't have to make your address public.
First the browser. Then our app.
At launch the Puppy ID runs entirely in the browser: you set up your dog's profile via a link, without installing anything. That means it's ready to use faster and more affordable for you.
At the same time, we're developing our own app. There you'll be able to manage several dogs, update details with a tap and get notified when someone scans your dog's tag. It's being built within our team, by someone who has done exactly this for big companies.
Who's behind it →Frequently asked questions about the Puppy ID
What is an NFC dog tag?
NFC stands for "Near Field Communication", the same technology you use to pay contactless. Inside the Puppy ID sits a tiny chip with no power source of its own. When someone holds a phone to it, the chip is briefly powered and sends a link to your dog's profile.
Does it work with every phone?
With practically every current smartphone. iPhones from the iPhone 7 onwards and almost all Android devices read NFC directly via the camera or lock screen function, without the finder having to install anything.
Do I need a subscription?
No. You buy the tag once and use it for good. There are no monthly costs and no contract.
Does the Puppy ID replace the microchip from the vet?
No, it complements it. The microchip under the skin can only be read by a vet or animal shelter with a scanner. Any finder can scan the Puppy ID instantly, right there on the street. Together they're the best protection.
What happens to my data?
You decide which details appear when the tag is scanned. We only store what's needed for it to work. You'll find the details in our privacy policy.
Does the tag hold up in rain and mud?
Yes. The Puppy ID is waterproof and built tough. Like the rest of our range, it's made for everyday life with a dog.
Digital NFC dog tag: modern safety for your dog
A classic dog tag carries an engraved name and maybe a phone number. If your number changes, you move house or you want to add your vet, you need a new tag. A digital dog tag solves exactly this problem: nothing on the tag itself goes out of date. It points to a profile that you can update yourself at any time.
The Puppy ID is just such an NFC dog tag. It works without a battery and therefore keeps working for good, without you having to think about maintenance. If someone finds your dog, they hold their smartphone to the tag and instantly see who to call. No app, no registration, no detours.
NFC dog tag or QR code?
Both lead to an online profile, but NFC is simpler when it really matters: the finder doesn't have to turn the tag over, focus the camera or fiddle around in bad light. Just holding the phone close is enough. A printed QR code can also get scratched or fade. The chip inside stays protected.
A dog tag with your phone number, without making it public
Many owners hesitate to have their number engraved in metal for everyone to see. With the Puppy ID, you decide which details a finder sees, and you can change them again at any time. That way you can be reached when it counts, without carrying your details around in the open all the time.
Matching the rest of your colourway
The Puppy ID is designed to match our collars and leashes. Together with the silicone letters, your dog wears their name for all to see and everything important invisibly, all in one go.
